 .: FLORIANÓPOLIS
 .: USEFUL INFORMATION

Florianópolis is the capital city of Santa Catarina state and is the smallest of all Brazilian capital cities. It is located in an island, and offers a Mediterranean like scenery of small fishing villages and 42 beaches. They range from wild open ocean beaches to sheltered lagoons framed with white sand and dunes. Besides its natural beauty, Florianópolis has charming sections with graceful churches and 18th-century squares. The Azorean-style housing and Santa Cruz Fort are particularly interesting. The city offers a fine hotel infrastructure, as well as a variety of excellent restaurants that serve mainly seafood and German cuisine.

 .: DESCRIPTION OF TOURS

Transfers in & out:
The client will be met and assisted at the airport and will drive though the city, heading to the hotel where he will stay. Our bilingual tour guide will show some points of interest on the way, while passing by them, and will provide information about Florianópolis.

Half-day city tour:
You will leave the hotel to visit: The Metropolitan Cathedral to see the wood sculpture FLIGHT INTO EGYPT, a magnificent work of art from the 17th century, the gardens and the interior of the Governement Palace, the Monument to the dead on the war against Paraguay, the traditional, century-old fig tree in the XV de Novembro Square. You will then ascend to the top of the Cruz Hill for a panoramic view over the city. You will also drive around the South Bay, the University City and the Hercílio Luz Bridge, inaugurated in 1926.

Half-day out to the Northern Beaches:
Passing by hotels and driving along the shore of the North Bay, you will visit Cacupe Beach and the colonial Portuguese village of Santo Antônio De Lisboa. You will also visit the church (when allowed) and the Sambaqui Beach. From here, we will appreciate the view over the city in the backgorund and the sweep of the North Bay, approaching the Ratones Island. Proceeding to Jurerê Beach, we will visit the São José de Ponta Grossa Fort ruins, built in 1748. After this, we will go for a visit to Canasvieiras Beach resort.

Half-day tour to the Southern Beaches:
Leaving the hotel, we will drive along the South shore. Visit the Campeche Beach and the retreat of Nossa Senhora de Fätima. Situated on the top of a hill, it offers a magnificent view over the Armação Beach and Lake Peri.  You can also see Matadeiro beach, with a spectacular view over the waves of the Atlantic Ocean breaking against the coast. After seeing this region, we will proceed to the village of Ribeirão da Ilha, an old and traditional Portuguese colony dated back to the colonization of the Santa Catarina Island. Lace makers can be seen working on their famous handmade laces. We will also visit the Ribeirão Church, constructed in 1806 and visited by Dom Pedro II.
